New information regarding the 2017-18 School Year

2017-18 Bayside 6th Grade Campus Supply List

  • Student Schedules will be mailed August 24th, 2017
  • All rising 6th Graders are required by law to have a Tdap Booster to begin the school year
    • The Virginia Beach Department of Health will be offering a Tdap shot free to Virginia Beach Students entering 6th Grade on Saturday, August 26th, 2017 from 9:00am-3:00pm @VBDoPH 4452 Corporation Lane, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. For more information please call 757-518-2700. Full list of shots also available at the VBHD.
    • A vaccination administration fee will be charged to your insurance (if you have insurance), but there will be no out-of-pocket exspenses.
    • No appointment necessary. Please bring ID, child's immunization records, insurance card (if applicable) and children must be accompanied by an adult
  • Meet and Greet for parents to meet the administration will be held Thursday, July 27th, 8:30am-9:30 am, and again at 6:00pm
  • 6th Grade Transition Program, Raider Rally, will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 8:30am-11:30am
  • Parent Open House will be held, Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 6:00pm
  • Virginia Sales Tax Holiday: August 4-6, 2017
    • During the sales tax holiday, you can buy qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items, and Energy Star™ and WaterSense™ products without paying sales tax.

Sports Physicals will be held @ Bayside Middle School 8/21/17 from 5pm-6pm $15 Cash ONLY

Fall Athletic Tryouts Monday 8/28/17 & Tuesday 8/29/17 from 4pm-6pm @ Bayside Middle School Big Gym

Bayside Middle School is located at 965 Newtown Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462
Tryouts will be for: Girls & Boys Soccer, Football and Cheerleading
Students must have a current VBMSL Sports Physical dated after 5/1/17 on file or in hand in order to try out.
Activity buses will provide transportation home on 8/28 as well as to an from tryouts on 8/29
Please be prepared for physical activity outdoors

Student Dress Code

The purpose of the dress code is to create an environment conducive for all students to learn.

  • All shorts, skirts and dresses must meet the length of the longest fingertip when hands are extended at the student's sides.
  • Leggins may be worn with a shirt, shorts, skirt/dress that meets the above fingertip length.
  • All shirts must have at least a sleeve cap (No sleeveless shirts) and be the length of the torso not revealing any mid-drift.
  • Jeans with rips above the knee must be worn with leggins.
  • No slides, flip-flops, slippers, or backless shoes may be worn to school for safety reasons.

Low-Cost Internet Service Available

Connect2Compete (C2C) is a program sponsored by a consortium of cable and Internet service providers nationwide. Locally, Cox Communications participates by offering affordable Internet access and devices to students and families that qualify for the National School Lunch Program. Recently, Cox Communications expanded its outreach to include families receiving services through Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

For participating families, there are no deposits, no installation costs and no modem rental fees. The monthly rate for those who qualify is $9.95 and this discounted rate is guaranteed for two years with no contract. Eligible families with children enrolled in K-12 may apply for the Connect2Compete discounted service online or by phone. Instructions for applying for the service are included on the attached flyer from Cox Communications. Additional information is available by visiting www.connect2compete.org/cox.

FREE Microsoft Office 2016 for VBCPS Students and Staff

All VBCPS Students and Staff have access to free Microsoft Office 2016. Log in to your O365 account and go to the main O365 home page. There you will see "Install Office 2016 on your PC". The install is for PC and / or Mac.
